Here's a look at how I design characters-- from explorations and value studies, to turnarounds and expressions, I like to do deep dives into what makes a character unique.
What if the characters from the movie Moulin Rouge were turned into a 2D show? Here's a look at my version of these iconic characters if they were to take on the 2D lifestyle.
I started with exploring each character's shapes and structures. Are they made up of triangles? Perhaps they're a bit top-heavy? Messing around with the basic shapes is one of my favorite parts of character design.
After some exploring, I did more in-depth work on this character, Christian. I wanted to make sure I could draw him from any angle and pose.
These works I completed during my time at Ringling College of Art and Design.
